10 Things To Do...

In your lunch break.

Since returning to work I've been looking for things that I can do during my lunch break to make sure I actually leave my desk and take that break. I only get 30min but if your luckier and get that full hour just think what you could get up to!

1. Take a stroll. The weather is getting better and it sure as heck feels good to break free from your desk, even for just 15 mins.

2. Nip to the shops. If you are lucky enoiugh tot be in the centre of a bigger town or near a city centre bo to a chemist, department store or even a supermarket and pick up a new lip gloss, lipstick, eyeshadow or even mascara. It doesn't need to cost the earth, but it will brighten up your day.

3. Me time. Book yourself a treatment. Getting your eyebrows tamed takes no time at all. Or if you have a slightly longer have an appointment a tthe hairdressers for a treatment and blow dry.

4. Getting handsy. If you can get the space, give yourself a mini manicure. Pop a bright nail varnish into your bag and liven up your fingertips at lunch.

5. Every day is a school day. Try and learn something new, a skill or  a craft. I'm a crochet fan, so I sometimes hook at lunch, your could knit, start to learn a new language, take up puzzles.

6. Go on holiday. Well not a full one. Plan a virtual break, where would you go, what would you do, what would you like to do, where would you stay/eat... I think you get my drift. Dream big. Pinterest is a great site to do this on.

7. Embrace your smartphone. Most of us have a smartphone these days, pop some earbuds in your bag and you can catch up on some vlogs, a tutorial or even a tag video using YouTube.

8. Take a picnic. Pack a nice lunch and meet a friend for a picnic lunch in a local park.

9. Eat out. Instead of your normal packed lunch, get out and visit a local eaterie and have a nice lunch. Your sandwich is always going to be there tomorrow.

10. Novel idea. Read a book, obviously not a whole one but you could squeeze in a chapter or two depending on the length of them. Have you a book that you've always wanted to read, but you never seem to have the time at home anymore? Lunch breaks are the perfect in for a blossoming reading habit.

DIY Thursday: Facial Hair Removal

Oh yes. I'm going there.

The great female taboo  Facial hair.

I am a woman of a certain age, and why did no one warn me that it was going to happen.

Then I started to wonder if it was hereditary, mainly after I happened across Gran wielding a razor toward her chin on more than one occasion

I don't get me wrong, I don't have a full on beard or tashe. I do have a couple of worrisome shadowy bits that annoy me. Probably more than they should.

I've tried all sorts of treatments from waxing and threading to epilating and bleach. I have come to the conclusion that I much prefer using a hair removal cream. The first three just hurt far too much, and their are only so many tears you can shed at the beauticians before they get a complex.
The other thing in favour of a hair removal cream is that you can do it in the comfort of your own bathroom. Quick, simple and cheap.

I also like that I can do it at the same time as something else, like doing my roots and conditioning my hair.

I picked mine up in store, I've had a look online and I can't see it right now.

Scent wise it could be nicer, it has that usual floralish smell, which can be dodged if you light a nice candle, thankfully you only need to leave it on for 3 minutes, 5 minutes maximum. Remove the cream with the enclosed spatula and rinse with lukewarm water. Finish off with the moisturiser that comes with the kit.

That's it you're done!

Beauty Favourites: Hair Edition

You may have noticed, or you might not, that I have red hair. I don't mean a little bit red, I mean pillar box/fire engine red hair. I love it. However, it is notoriously hard to keep bright.

I don't do a lot to my hair apart from the colouring. I have exceedingly fine hair, I do have a lot of it too mind. So there is a mass of waves on my bonce, that need a firm hand a strong talking to on more occasions that I care to admit.

I only wash my hair once a week. This is in part down to the sheer amount of hair that I have, it takes a long time for the oils to make their way to the surface, also for the sake of my colour too.

These are the items I couldn't shower without.

Shampoo and Conditioner.

So far this is my absolute favourite. It keeps my red hair red, and it cost effective too. At just £1.29 at bottle this Aldi product is well worth the money.

My well used shower cap.

I put on my hair conditioner and then plonk my shower cap on so it can get to work without attacked my the shower head. It soups up the power of the conditioner and makes sure I have a reletively tangle free mane when I come to drying it.

More often than not I leave it to dry naturally. From time to time I will use my wet 2 straight Remmington straighteners. I've had mine for years, probably about 15 if I was to hazard a guess.
They are a wide ceramic plate, which helps when you have as much, and hair as long as mine.

Nail Woes #2

So we are at the end of week 1.

I have been using the Avon Pearl Shine now for a week.

I'm loving the pretty pale pink shimmer that it gives you. However, I'm finding that I need to reapply on a daily basis. It isn't keen on people washing up, or even cleaning, using your hands for anything apart from sleeping.

I have found that if you don't use rubber gloves that the polish starts to bubble, if you do much else it starts to not so much chip and wear off on the tips, which is wear you need the most protection. Especially as I'm growing out some major splits.

One thing I have noticed though is the speed in which my nails have grown this week. I don't know whether or not that is down to the Avon product or just co-incidence.
