Plus-Sized Blogger

It is hard to deny that I am plus-sized. I'm at best a size 28 right now.

I am also a blogger. So ergo, ipso facto and other ponsy phrases I could use, I am a plus-sized blogger.

However, I don't completely identify with the plus-sized moniker.

I'm not embarrassed about my size, however I'm also not comfortable being this size either.

I do watch what I eat. Otherwise I would be, and have been, even bigger than I am now. I regularly fluctuate between a size 22 and a 32/24. I have managed to hold steady around the 26/28 mark for the last year.

I'm not impressed with myself. I'm also not angry.

I have been a larger than the average person now for many, many, many years. I'm not saying I can't lose weight, because I can and I have. I don't blame anyone except myself and my fondness of the sofa and chocolate and cheese.

I'm not happy at this size. Being so large affects my mood on an almost daily basis. I yearn to do many things that I don't feel comfortable even trying.

I feel for my kids, and the kids that I am an assistant leader to at Scouts, Brownies and Rangers. I want to be a role model to these kids. Part of my job is to show them the best way forward in their lives and help them make the most of the opportunities presented to them.

I'm not the average fat girl though. I go hiking, however my balance isn't great at times and on my last night hike I fell. At my size it created a lot of pain for the rest of the week. Pain I medicated with sugar, which led to a gain on the scales of 6lbs in just 1 week. Not a good moment.

So now I'm back on the trail of trying to not obsess over the little things, in all avenues of my life. Along with the longer hours I am currently putting in the office I need to look after myself that bit better. Making sure that I don't get sick or run down.

You can join me on my eternal journey to find long-lasting balance here.

This is my dieting rollercoaster after all.

April Favourites

How fast are these months going now?

I have a mixed bag of favourites for April.

Barely There Gel Finish Nailwear by Avon. This is the perfect nude. It gives a nice sheer cover with just one coat, but add 2 and it is a fabulous opaque colour. Two looks for the price of one. Currently on offer in Avon for £2.50 - which is half of it's RRP.

Insulated cup and straw - I now have 3 of these. I love them. One at work, 2 at home. They make drinking water so much easier, I really don't like the stuff that much. Also it keeps it cool for longer and cuts down trips to the drinks cooler at work. You can currently buy 2 large ones for £5 at Wilkinsons.

Going hand in hand with the cup and straw is this miniature cordial syrup by Robertsons. I love the orange and peach flavour.

I got these sunglasses at the start of the month, when the weather was so much brighter and a lot less wet that it has been this week. I got them from ebay, I think they were about £2. I didn't want to spend too much as I wasn't sure if they would suit me. What do you think?

I'm still pretty much obsessed by cheesy puffs for some reason, pretty much eating them daily.

For lunch at work I've been taking soup, I love these cups by Sistema. I have a couple of their lunch boxes too. I have these in Red and Blue (currently £3 each at Wilkinsons). They can go in the freezer, but normally I split a fresh soup between the two and take them to work over 2 days.

I eat them with my other obsession, the pumpkin and sunflower seed rolls from the bakery section at Co-op. 46p for 1 or £1 for 4.

On a night I've been unloading my daily thoughts in a journal over on www.dietingrollercoaster.blogspot.com and watching youtube videos. This month I've been loving:

Sprinkle of Glitter - she's a mummy blogger, she's so pretty and gorgeous and funny. I love her hair and make up, it's fair to say she is my current girl crush. I want her as my bestest buddy.

Saccone Jolys - An Irish family. Anna has just given birth to her 2nd child. I love to watch their antics on an evening I go to bed, and now they're moving to the UK!!!

Fun for Louis - Louis has been out of the UK for 6 months most of this month he has been in LA hanging with other youtubers including Cyr and Piddleass. I'm going to miss them in his life.

and finally for this month

Betty Pamper - I've really been enjoying her look books this month.

Spring Make-Up Look

This is a look I'm loving at the moment, a hint of colour around the eyes, and a pop on the lips.

Now the sun is shining more often, and the sky is blue it's the perfect time to freshen up make-up wise.

On the base I used my usual Avon cream to powder foundation with concealer for the red bits and darker circles.

I used MUA eye shadows on the lid. I started with a sweep of lilac over the lid and accented with a teal/green colour in the crease - both are from the Immaculate Collection, which I then blended out. Instead of eyeliner, I used Penny from the Ever After palette.

The mascara is brown/black Aero Volume by Avon. The blush is a mosaic one by MUA.

On the lips I used Showy Flamboyant by Revlon.

Yours Clothing: Red and Black Ditsy Floral Print Jersey Tunic

I was shuffling through the @yoursclothing website last week and noticed this in the sale. I've been after some dresses for work, and when you stand at 5' 10" in your size 9 ballerina pumps that can be an effort in itself.

It reminds me of the pattern that you find on bandanas, which I collect and have an assorted array of colours and they'll come out to play during the summer no doubt.

At the moment I'm between a 24 and 26 for dresses so I plumbed for the 26/28 in the hope that it would make it that little bit longer so I could wear it as a dress rather than a tunic.

A gamble I think paid off.

As a member of the not blessed with big boobs brigade I appreciate the faux vest in the v-neckline.

I also feel I must apologise for the photo, I've been having a few bad face days so have left off the make up.

I love this item, and in an office that seems to be set to tropical it is just the right sort of material.

I wore it with some opaque black tights and a pair of chelsea boots, which you can't see on this photo. I need to get me a photographer!

You can find this item on the website here
